Sea Kayak Rental - Telegraph Cove

rental kayaks on beach North Island Kayak is located in Telegraph Cove to the very North of Vancouver Island, ideally place to serve the paddling areas of Johnstone Strait, the Broughton Archipelago, Gods Pocket, Queen Charlotte Strait, Quatsino Sound and Kyuquot Sound, or if you prefer, the towns of Telegraph Cove, Port McNeil, Port Hardy, Cold Harbor, Coal Harbor, Alert Bay, Sointula and Port Alice.

Our kayak rental and kayaking equipment for hire store is located adjacent to the Telegraph Cove launch ramp. You could probably not dream of better access and support. Our large boat ramp is divided in two sections, the left side reserved for fishing and other pleasure boats. The right side for kayakers; where else do you find a boat ramp specially for you? At all but the busiest times, when the ramp is full of kayaks, you can drive your vehicle onto the ramp in order to make loading and unloading easy. We have fresh water available at the top of the boat ramp, so you do not have to carry it far. We also provide a dumpster for your garbage, a compost bucket for your organics and recycling of aluminium cans, plastic and glass containers, batteries, cardboard, etc.

Our rental kayaks and equipment are stored and prepared for your use, adjacent to our store and the boat ramp; We do not ship them in from elsewhere and have you running around the town asking 'Has anyone seen North Island Kayak?' or 'Where should we wait for our kayaks to arrive?' We and your kayaks will still be there if you arrive late, or early! Not Paddling out of Telegraph Cove?

You can pick the kayaks up or we can arrange for delivery to most points on the North Island, including the BC Ferries north route at Port Hardy. Our store location is also ideally situated for pick up and drop off by water taxi.

We are proud of our wide variety of single, double and triple kayaks. New kayaks are added to the fleet every year to meet the needs of most kayakers. We have Plastic, thermoform and fiberglass kayaks from a variety of suppliers, including Seaward, Boreal Design, Necky and Current Designs. Should you have a preference for a particular kayak, please let us know in advance and we will try to accommodate you.

In addition to kayaks and kayak gear, we also rent camping equipment including tents, sleeping bags, thermarests, stoves, etc. If you need something specific, try to let us know in advance as with notice we can make most things happen!
