The areas you will be paddling are Canadian, however anywhere you go on the North Island is part of the traditional territories of various First Nations. In the vast majority of cases these Indigenous inhabitants of the area have never relinquished their claim to these lands. Please consider contacting these Nations if you intend to enter their territory or visit their homeland. You would expect no less from someone who wished to camp in your back yard!
